Never worried, just concerned. Like the mother of a prodigious son, hovering over him while studying as if she were a wolf circling a nug. [ a visceral image. while Dorian was always prone to figurative language to express his (often hyperbolic) points, he felt he had to use enhanced imagery with Cole. he hoped — through this naturalistic choice of words — he could promote visualization of what he meant for Cole. while Cole often seemed like an abstract concept, being a spirit, or demon, or ghost, or whatever, he had some ties and connections to the earth, so he hoped it would help get his point across.

of course, it could just serve to confuse him more. Dorian was never sure with this one whether his point landed or completely missed. it was even worse with his jokes. ]
I suppose I should feel safe with you, what with your bizarre hostile sensing, but I can't help but feel apprehensive when you disappear from the battlefield. Quite literally.
