Character NAME: Inori Yuzuriha
Canon & MEDIUM: Guilty Crown (anime series)
Canon PULL-POINT: Episode 10
Character AGE: 16
Character ABILITIES:
Technically speaking, Inori has several dormant abilities, but these are very unlikely to come to play in the game, since to be activated, they require a canon update for Inori to absorb Mana's consciousness. If she gets a canon update, I'll expand this section more, but for now, Inori has no way of knowing about or accessing these abilities.
What's most notable is that Inori is quite skilled in combat, both hand to hand and with guns. She doesn't have a huge amount of strength considering her size, but she's capable of defending herself, and moreso with guns in hand.
Also, while it's not strictly a power of hers, it's worth noting Inori's Void. A Void is explained as a manifestation of one's heart, and Ouma Shu is able to grasp them and use them. Inori's is called the Singer's Sword, and is a huge broadsword-esque weapon, and is one of the most powerful ones in the series. She's not able to pull it out herself or use it, but Shu is able to.
Character HISTORY: Hopefully this will cover it? If not, I'll write my own!
Character PERSONALITY: T
On Christmas Eve in 2039, the Apocalypse nearly happened. A single girl was a carrier for a deadly and catastrophic disease unlike any other seen before, and though the disease still spread in Japan, a greater tragedy was avoided. However, one group saw this virus as humanity's next stage of evolution, and a clone was created to house the return of the girl's soul so that the virus could try to spread once more.
And that vessel is, of course, Inori.
Inori's status as a clone or vessel forms the basis for the main parts of her personality. Inori is a quiet girl, but this stems out of simply being unsure of how to interact with other people rather than shyness. In fact, she's the exact opposite of shy. Inori is ver blunt, sometimes painfully so, and will say what she's thinking without trouble. However, sometimes she does struggle to interpret her thoughts in the sense of applying them in a social context.
Because when it comes down to it, Inori is a person who is still trying to figure out her place in the world. She didn't grow up normally (or in a way, at all) and her understanding of the world is stunted because of that. Inori is trying to find meaning in her existence outside of being a vessel for Mana's resurrection, and this manifests in her attachments to other people. The first person Inori truly "met" was Gai, who named her, and this planted the seeds of unwavering loyalty to Gai, even though their relationship was far from healthy. Inori is fundamentally unable to recognize why their relationship is strange an unhealthy, and seeks validation from Gai early in the series. He's the one that gives her existence meaning, so she gives all that she can to help him and is utterly devoted to him.
However, as the series progresses, her loyalty instead shifts to Shu, and for good reason. Though hardly the model of healthy either, Shu is a person that genuinely cares for Inori and treats her like he would treat most other girls. It's something that Inori gets confused by at times, and often misses social cues in response to, but she does know that it makes her happy. Her loyalty shifts to the kinder, more understanding Shu, and by her canonpoint, she has shifted from viewing herself as Shu's tool to be used and owned to the possibility that she might love Shu.
Emotions don't come easily to Inori, and she has problems processing them. She doesn't seem to know how she should react to even basic social situations like meeting new people, which gives the impression of her being an emotionless person. But Inori certainly does have emotions, but she simply has trouble processing and applying them. This is demonstrated with how she asks Gai if she loves Shu, or earlier with how she struggles to identify and name the hurt and loneliness she feels when Shu breaks one of her songs.
Though on that subject, music is very important to Inori. Though she has difficulties expressing herself in conversation, she can use her songs to express herself in more abstract ways. For example, she processes her relationship with Shu through the idea of color, where she thinks of herself as a monochrome when she first meets him, but her lyrics gradually reflect Shu's presence giving her world color. As such, it's a habit of Inori's when she's stressed or confused about a situation to write songs or sing the ones she's already written, since it's the only way she feels she can adequately express her feelings.
All of this said, though Inori can seem to be distant and emotionless even around people she cares for a lot, she really is a kind person. She can come off as awkward sometimes with her lack of knowledge about social interactions, but she does give her best effort to accomplish any task given to her and also values her relationships a lot. She's thoughtful at times too, when she understands that she can be, and is a great and surprisingly active listener, since being a shoulder for other people is something she's very good at. She may not speak much, but when she does, it's with a sense of purpose, though sometimes that purpose is only clear to herself...
Overall, Inori is a person trying to discover herself. Created as essentially a blank slate, Inori is slowly building up experiences that are helping to make her into "Inori" rather than just a vessel for Mana. She's quiet, often not speaking much at all, but she's hardly a pushover. She has no problems with bluntly telling someone the truth, or even handing out some ass-kicking when necessary. Ultimately, though she still has a long way to go, Inori is on a path of self-discovery by finding meaning through relationships with other people.
» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON:
Inori will be opting for a pair of handguns, more specifically a pair of .45 caliber Heckler & Koch USP handguns. Heck yeah being specific.
In terms of their evolution, over time, Inori will find that her singing is able to alter the course of the bullets to make them more accurate, or to target more specific areas of the body more effectively. For an example of the latter case, as Inori sings, she'll find it easier to hit areas like knees or other non-fatal, but still crippling, areas more easily rather than resorting to killing her targets.
Character INVENTORY:
- Just the clothes on her back, even though they're a bit unsual» SAMPLES
First PERSON:
[She figures out the tablet easily, and takes the time not only looking through the basic information, but through previous posts as well. Inori isn't exactly an information gatherer like other members of Funeral Parlor, but she's cautious and competent enough to make that effort.
Though, when she sees two names, it's both a very happy feeling, and a very sad one. It was a great relief to not be alone here after all, but it was scary too. She was a monster, so she wasn't even sure if he would be happy that she was here. It was really scary.
...But she had to at least let them both know that she was here. Inori is able to swallow that fear enough to start a video broadcast where her head is propped in her hands. She looks at the camera distantly, and her voice is soft, though not hesitant.]
Shu is here. And Gai too.
[There's a pause that's perhaps a little too long, but she continues.]
I'd like to meet them... But I don't know where they are. If anyone could tell me where they're living, I would be grateful.
[She glances down, looking lightly surprised, but then back up to the camera.]
...And where I can get food. I'm hungry.
Third PERSON:
"Ah..."
Her soft voice barely resonates in the corridor as she slowly takes it in, now that she's alone. She hadn't verbally responded to anything the woman had said, her expression unchanging as things were explained. She had only pointed to a pain of guns when prompted, otherwise passively taking in all the information.
...And really, it kind of gave her a headache.
"So, are you ready?"
Inori had forgotten that she wasn't alone after all. Her eyes tur towards the guide. She still says nothing, just giving a small nod before following along obediently.
It was familiar, she decides. It wasn't different from the Funeral Parlor in a lot of ways, she's noticing. But it wasn't that simple either. Even if it was similar, it wasn't the same at all, because the people were missing. Inori's brow furrows slightly as she thinks further about that. It makes a feeling she doesn't like well up.
This is loneliness, she knows. That same, empty feeling of when Gai is harsh to her, or when Shu broke her song. Loneliness... It's a terrible feeling, she decides.
"I'm beyond the farthest stars..."
She starts to sing softly, and the guide glances back, surprised.
"and I have been looking for you..."
Her voice gets a little stronger, and her expression more serene as she sings.
"The light went down before my eyes
The light shone in the darkness..."
Because even if she was alone, if that empty pain welled up, then a song could soothe it. It's like a lullaby to herself, because being able to "speak" this way, it's the only way to gently let those feelings out.
